Choosing the Perfect Name

Choosing the Perfect Name (2009)

I can still remember the day that my sister and I were at our kitchen table, where we spent hours trying to come up with the “perfect” name for my videography company.

At just the age of 16, I really didn’t know much about starting a business. Looking back now, I’m proud of my young entrepreneurial spirit and my tenacity that brought me to where I am today. They say that there are two very important days in a person’s life. The day they’re born, and the day they find out why.

I’m happy that from such a young age, I knew what I wanted to do with my life here on earth. Throughout high-school, I was always the kid making videos. When my teachers would have us write essays on what we wanted to be when we grew up I proudly wrote on the subject of videography. The teachers would look confused and disappointed at the fact that I thought making videos could make me a living. It’s funny, every time I bump into an old classmate or anyone who’s ever crossed my path, their first question is, “Hey, Are you still doing the photo thing?” And I laugh frustratingly every single time as I remind them it’s called videography.

After high school, I went to county college but always found myself dropping more classes than I’d actually complete. I’ve worked many jobs mostly in sales but always kept video at the top of my mind. So much, that I actually enrolled in the NY Film academy to enhance my video-making abilities.

Today, I’ve been doing video full time for the past 3 years, but recently due to a worldwide pandemic, I’ve found myself once again at another job while working on my business. With my parent’s constant disapproval, and constant encouragement to go back to school, to get into real estate, or to start investing in stocks and forex. I find myself trying harder and harder to make my dream my reality.
